When the drive shaft is working, the Gimbal Expansion Joints are often subjected to large torque and shock loads at high speeds. The Gimbal Expansion Joints are also continuously extended and shortened with the deformation of the suspension. The angle between the drive shafts of the reducer is also constantly changing, so the damage is more serious.

Gimbal Expansion Joints

Practice has proved that the damage of the Gimbal Expansion Joints transmission is mainly the damage of the cross shaft universal joint, that is, the wear of the cross shaft journal and the needle roller bearing, the indentation and peeling of the cross shaft journal and the working surface of the needle roller bearing bowl. However, good lubrication can prevent early damage to the cross shaft and needle rollers, extending the life of the universal joint. The maintenance specification stipulates: the sliding fork key teeth and the intermediate bearing use calcium-based grease (butter); the needle roller bearing of the cross shaft and the intermediate bearing of the three-axle drive use gear oil. However, in actual work, due to the lack of sufficient understanding of the lubricating oil of the transmission shaft by many maintenance personnel, some of them use butter for the lubrication of the needle roller bearings of the cross shaft because of the convenience of work and the lack of filling equipment.

There are also many warranty personnel that because the grease nipple of the cross shaft is the same as the grease nipple, they believe that it is required to add grease, which causes the early damage of the cross shaft. Why does adding butter to Gimbal Expansion Joints cause early damage to the cross shaft? This is because butter is a structural dispersion system formed by thickener and base oil, and contains bound water as a stabilizer. contact with water.
